A COUPLE of martial artists from Warwick competed in the Taekwondo International World Championships in Scotland.

Schembri TKD Warwick pair Elizabeth Hunt and Helen Audus-Norman both competed on the international stage at Braehead Arena in Glasgow.

Audus-Norman came away with a bronze medal in the women’s executive division following a narrow defeat in her semi-final bout.

She won her first two fights in a highly competitive division but just came up short in the semi-finals.

And Hunt just missed out on a medal in the girls’ black belt individual patterns event as she finished fourth in a packed field.

Hunt then suffered a quarter-final exit in the individual sparring event as she lost to the eventual winner in a close fight.

However, Hunt recovered from the setback to win gold in the team sparring event.

Hosts Scotland secured a clean sweep of victories in the premier international team events at the World Championships.

The host nation won both the men’s and ladies divisions.

Almost 2,000 competitors took part in the World Championships from 20 countries over three days of action.

This included martial artists from the likes of Australia, United States of America, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Italy, Republic of Ireland and across the United Kingdom.
