THE ANNUAL Pete Nimmo Memorial Match held over the weekend was a huge success.

Fund-raising started on Friday evening, when 27 carp anglers competed over a 36-hour period to catch the largest fish.

They were joined by a further 57 anglers at the fishery on Sunday for a five-hour coarse match. The carp match winner was James Cowan from Leamington with a 23lb 15oz common from Greenhill Lake.

Shaun Smart won the Sunday match with 41lb 14oz of roach, skimmers and carp. Second was Chris Campling from Northampton with 33lb 8oz and third was Jake King from Daventry with 29lb.

Fishery owner Sarah said: “It has been an exhausting weekend, but it has also been great fun, and to top it all we have raised over £3,500 which will be split equally between the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Macmillan nurses.”

Shaun added: “Everyone who came was there to enjoy themselves and raise as much money as possible for these great causes, which is exactly what Pete would have wanted.”
