Notley leads the way in London - the latest from Spa Striders

SPA Striders were out in force during Bank Holiday Monday as 18 of the club’s representatives took on the Vitality London 10k.

Leading the pack was Adam Notley with a 35.46 time, followed shortly after by Pete Teevan (40.52), Rob Egan (41.59), David Chantrey (42.36), James Hartwright (42.38) and Lloyd Harriman (42.59).

Billy Morton came home in 46.49, whilst Abi Morton shaved three minutes of her personal best time – and recorded her first ever sub-50 time, finishing in 49.12.

Sean Warren (51.37), Claire Westrope (53.17), Helen Pugh (55.23), Amy Butler (58.07), Vez Hill (59.11) and James Warren (59.44) all finished below the hour mark.




Natalie Dellar (1:02.02), Emma Bish (1:04.28), Kathryn Houliston (1:04.36) and Brian Warren (1:06.08) were the remaining Striders from the event to cross the line.

Meanwhile, at the Chase the Sun 10km at Wimbledon Common, Simon Reiter finished second in the MV50 category, in a time of 48.31, whilst Matt Leydon (5:07:53) and Dave Lithgow completed the Lakeland Trails Coniston Marathon.


At the Tysoe Windmill 10km, Jane Cummings completed the event, whilst Anne Hurrell (45:43) set a personal best at the Bedford 10km.

Six teams took part in the Tempo ‘Run for Beer’ Relays event in Stratford, where each runner completed a two-mile lap in exchange for a cold drink as a reward.

‘Spa Wobblers’ – consisting of Susie Stannard, Kat Lambeth, Kate Gadsby and Mairi Walker finished in first, whilst the Vets team of Rob Mantel, Ben Parkinson, Rob Egan and Tim Beresford finished in third.

‘Runnings’ Eegits (Luke Bennett, L Harriman, Joe McCullagh, Simon Ludford) came three seconds behind in fourth.

Helene Wright was the fastest female runner in the Scisset Sprint Triathlon in Yorkshire, with Mike Pugh, Lorraine Parsons and Amanda Wiggins all finishing the Standard Distance Triathlon at Bosworth.
