Octavian Droobers celebrate 11 titles

A TOTAL of 11 Octavian Droober orienteers were awarded championship status in their age groups, after competing in the annual event held by West Midland club, Harlequins, at Worcester Beacon, Malvern.

Junior Max Straube-Roth won the M14 year old trophy and his mother Anne Straube completed a family double with the W35 award.

Alistair Landels was first in the M40 class, and other winners were Juliette Soulard W50, Chris McCartney M50, David Leadley M55, Rachel Alexander W60, Barry Elkington M65, Karin Kirk W70, Sheila Carey W75 and Peter Carey M75.

The club also currently tops the West Midlands League which takes place this year over seven events and is open to club members of all ages.

Chasers, featured some good runs by club members.


Bruce Bryant M60 won the 5.2km course in 58.56mins and Tony Feltbower was 10th. On the 7.3km long course, David Leadley M55 was seventh and Chris McCartney M50 ninth.

Liz Phillips W55 was fifth on the 4.1km course and Peter Carey M75 took fourth on the 3.5km course.
