OLs Ladies hit 84 points in dominant Sheldon display

RUGBY UNION: OLD Leamingtonians Ladies hit the 84 point mark against Shelford on Saturday to record a win in their third league game.

It took OLs just six minutes to score when winger Liz Kennedy picked up a loose ball out of Shelford’s 22 to score in the corner.

Hannah Trenholm added OLs’ second try before Shelford’s opportunity to get back into the game with a penalty kick went against them when Carrie Steadman caught the ball and ran over the line.

Skipper Jen Vermeulen then placed the ball underneath the posts before quickly adding a second before half time to bring the score to 36-0.

OLs made a positive start to the second half when scrum half Ffion Davies exploited the gaps in Shelford’s line to score OLs’ seventh.

Trenholm then scored her second try of the match after a smooth pass into a gap from fellow centre Vermeulen.

Not to be out done by the backs, Gleeson issues an inside pass to second row Mikala Raines who powered through to score OLs’ ninth.

Stokes and Vermeulen then went on to score two more tries each before Shelford earned a consolation try in the closing moments of the game.
