LEAMINGTON’S Gabinder Cheema has become West Midlands powerlifting champion in the 100kg class.
Cheema pressed 172.5kg in the Masters 1 Equipped Bench Press event to break his own West Midlands record at the Black Country Barbell Gym in Stourbridge.
The result means Cheema has also secured qualification for next year’s British Championships.
The West Midlands Championships were staged by the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association.
Cheema became World champion in June earlier this year where he pressed 160kg in Maromme, France.
