BALJIT Cheema, from Leamington, claimed victory at an East Midlands Powerlifting competition to qualify for next year’s British Powerlifting Championships.
Cheema competed in the 100kg equipped class and achieved a first place finish at Fierce Gym in Milton Keynes.
And Cheema made a fine start as he achieved a personal best (PB) squat of 220kg in the event run by the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association.
Cheema then held his nerve to bench 147.5kg and deadlift 225kg, both on his third and final attempt, to secure his place at next year’s British Powerlifting Championships.
Baljit’s older brother Gabinder will also compete at British Championships having achieved his qualification at the West Midlands Championships earlier this month.
