POWERLIFTER Gabinder Cheema won gold on his return to competitive action at the West Midlands Championships after a year out of the sport.
Cheema, from Leamington, placed first in the 100kg masters 1 equipped category, lifting at Gren Elmoreās 10-year memorial event and also managed a 170kg bench press.
He took a year out from powerlifting to rest after winning gold at the World Championships in the same category in Maromme, France.
Cheema trains at Nelson Gym in Leamington with the support of his daughter Daya, mum Jasbir, son Arjun and his father and coach Nirmal.
