Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club tear it up at Solihull No Frills circuit race

ROYAL Leamington Spa Cycling Club entered five riders into the second round of the Solihull No Frills Circuit event.

The category three and four race, taking place over the course of an hour and five laps, started from a standing start, which caught a number of riders out.

One solo rider got a jump on the pack and was half a lap ahead of the field after the first lap, and eventually lapped the field for the win.

Emile Glorieux took charge for RLSCC, attacking when afforded the opportunity and leading a number of laps, but he was unable to break away clear from the rest of the field.

Gerard Scott and Denis Zaboronsky meanwhile found themselves in front for a few laps, adding to the Leamington Spa challenge.

Pete Mathews meanwhile remained steady in the top half of the pack throughout the race, whilst Tom Smith managed to catch up with the back of the pack after a slow start.

With riders manoeuvring their way into position for the final sprint, RLSCC found themselves in good stead to take a share of the points.

However, Glorieux lost ground and finished 13th, with Scott finishing ahead in ninth, taking a point for his efforts.

Zaboronsky took 11th, narrowly missing out on points, but will be happy with how he fared during his first closed circuit race,

Matthews finished in 17th, with Smith coming home in 23rd.
