KENILWORTH Rugby Club’s women’s side are celebrating the team’s 10th anniversary this year.

The women’s team played their first fixture in 2015 and have developed from playing non-league friendly matches to competing at the highest level of the women’s game outside of the Premiership.

Kenilworth’s women beat Five Ways Old Edwardians 27-22 in the club’s first-ever fixture back in October 2015.

The club then achieved three promotions in the space of five seasons and reached a National Cup final.

Kenilworth climbed as high as the Championship North One division only to see their debut at the level delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The women’s first XV have now become a mainstay in the league and have also launched a second XV side.

The second XV began playing friendly matches in the 2021/22 season before officially launching in the 2023/24 campaign.

And with the second XV securing a league place for the 2025/26 season, Kenilworth are the only club in Warwickshire to have two teams in the women’s league system.

The club are inviting supporters, former players and the wider community to join in with the 10th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, October 4 for a special home fixture against Sale.

Founding member of the club, Caz Spence said: “Reaching our 10th anniversary is a such proud moment for everyone involved in Kenilworth Women’s rugby.

“From those early friendlies to competing in the Championship, our players, coaches, and volunteers have worked tirelessly to make this club a place where women’s rugby can thrive.

“We’re excited to celebrate our history and look forward to the next decade of growth and achievement.”
