KENILWORTH RFC suffered a 49-7 defeat away at Bromsgrove as the club lost for the fourth game in a row on the road.

The visitors proved no match for the Boars at Finstall Park before Will Morgan crossed for a late consolation try.

And the result means Kenilworth sit ninth in the Regional 1 Midlands table.

The Boars took an early three-point lead when Wlll Tanner kicked a penalty before Ed Spalding crossed for the game’s first try on nine minutes.

And Tom Hardwick dotted down the home side’s second try four minutes later as Tanner kicked the conversion before then adding another three points with a successful penalty attempt.

An impressive first-half display from the Boars saw Oliver Ingram touch down on 24 minutes before Spalding crossed for Bromsgrove’s bonus point try four minutes before the break.

The Boars took a 36-point lead into the second period and picked up where they left off as Jordan Maddocks dotted down in the corner after leaving his tackler face down on the ground.

And further tries from Thomas Cubitt and Rich Hance, who both made excellent line breaks, increased the home side’s lead.

The visitors eventually troubled the scoreboard when Morgan dotted down from Charlie West’s initial break and Mark O’Connor added the extras.

Kenilworth are next in action at home to Broadstreet on Saturday, January 27 with kick-off at 2.15pm at the Jack Davies Memorial Ground.
