KENILWORTH RFC suffered a heavy 81-7 defeat against Bromsgrove in their first home game of the season.

The hosts scored their only points at the end of the first half as Adam Collingwood dotted down and Will Morgan converted as the visitors ran in 12 tries at the Jack Davies Memorial Ground.

And the result means Kenilworth sit 11th in the Regional 1 Midlands table.

An early penalty from Will Tanner put Bromsgrove into the lead before Jamie Constantine powered over for the game’s first try.

After Tanner kicked the conversion, tries from James Gunther, Tom Sadler and Jolby Beech secured a bonus point for the visitors before half time.

Kenilworth registered their only try before the interval as Collingwood touched down following some strong carries through the middle of the pitch.

A brace of tries from George Amphlett increased the away side’s lead after the break before Gunther and Sadler both crossed for their second tries respectively as Tanner kicked three conversions and Will Harris the other.

The onslaught continued as Sadler took his tally for the game to four tries while Rich Hance and Tanner also dotted down, the latter with the last play of the game.

Kenilworth are next in action against Burton on Saturday, September 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Battlestead Croft.
