LEAMINGTON RFC lost for a fifth successive game on the road as the visitors eventually succumbed to a 38-10 defeat away at title-chasing Evesham.

Iain Cameron and John Brear both crossed for Leamington who held their opponents at the break only for Evesham to run in four converted tries in the second half.

The result leaves Leamington in ninth place in the Midlands 2 West (South) table with just three matches left to play.

And Evesham made a quick start as the hosts ran in two early tries only for Leamington to draw level with some exquisite rugby.

The visitors scored their first try through Cameron when he powered his way to the line after some good work from centre’s Jim Robertson and Rich McKowen.

And Leamington soon had a second try as Brear touched down from a powerful maul at the lineout following a stunning kick from Sam Nunn into the opposition 22 to secure the set-piece to send the teams into the break at 10-apiece.

However, Evesham used the strong wind to their advantage in the second period and ran in four tries to secure a bonus point victory and condemn Leamington to defeat.

Leamington are next in action at home to Kidderminster on Saturday, April 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Moorefields.
