SPA Striders were busy in action this weekend, with a number of runners representing the club across the land and further afield.
The sole Strider involved in a race outside of England at the weekend was Hartwig Busch, who raced the Föschber Radweglauf 10k – on the outskirts of Siegen, finishing with a time of 42:42.
Adam Notley ran the Vitality Big Half in London, and although not being able to oust Mo Farrah this time, he did come home with a personal best time of 1:16:55.
Gethyn Friswell recorded a stunning time of 1:34:43 in the Surrey Half Marathon, whilst Mel Venables won the Dorney Lake Marathon and six hours challenge, finishing the 34 mile course in four hours, 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, Nigel Fox won the Handicap Race, Mairi Walker came home in second and James Robbins finished third in the four mile Strider only race at Abbey Fields – which is featured in the Strider Winter Series & Handicap Series.
Helene Wright and Lucy Tugwell were out in force at the Bedford Duathlon, Wright finishing the Standard distance in 2:26:48 as the fifth fastest lady and the third fastest in her age group.
It is hoped her time will help give her a qualifying time for the European Championships next year.
Tugwell was seventh fastest in her age group, coming home in 1:23:29 in the Sprint distance to cap off another weekend of achievements for the club.
