FORMER Kenilworth squash player, Sarah-Jane Perry, has been awarded an OBE in the 2026 New Year Honours List.
Perry received the honour for her services to squash and started her career in the sport at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club.
She recently retired from playing following an illustrious career on both the international and national stage.
Perry said: “I am deeply honoured to receive an OBE for services to squash.
“While my playing career brought many unforgettable moments, this recognition is especially meaningful because it acknowledges the work I have been proud to do beyond competition.
“Squash has shaped my life, and I have always believed in giving back to the sport – supporting players at the professional level, helping create opportunities for the next generation, and using squash as a force for social impact, particularly for those most in need.
“I am grateful to everyone I have worked alongside and to the players who continue to inspire me.
“This honour strengthens my commitment to helping squash grow, evolve, and thrive for future generations.”
Perry won eight European team gold medals for England and one World Team Championships gold.
She also claimed one silver and one bronze medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Perry started playing the sport from the age of eight-years-old at Kenilworth and attended Kenilworth School.
She won a number of medals at youth level including the European under-19 and British under-19 Championships in 2009.
Perry also claimed two British under-23 titles and made her senior England debut in 2013.
She reached a career-high ranking of world number five in July 2020.
Perry’s most notable individual success came at the CIB Black Ball Open.
Alongside her professional career, Perry graduated from the University of Warwick with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Business Studies.
