LEAMINGTON Royals hope to boost their chances of reaching finals weekend in the Optasia Squash Super League (SSL) when they host Coolhurst Cavaliers.

The Royals entertain the North-London based Cavaliers on Friday, March 7 – their second-ever home game in the SSL.

Leamington play Bristol Buccaneers away from home later this month on Friday, March 21.

Leamington currently sit second in the SSL table with the top two teams after six group matches facing off at finals weekend.

Both teams head into the clash unbeaten after the Royals drew with the Cavaliers on their SSL debut before beating Bristol Buccaneers and St George’s Hill Knights.

French number one and current European champion Victor Crouin will lead out the Royals in the men’s professional game.

He takes on German number one Raphael Kandra looking to maintain his unbeaten start in a Royals shirt.

The women’s professional match pits Leamington’s Lucy Turmel against England teammate Sarah-Jane Perry.

Perry, who lives in Kenilworth, has won medals on the World and Commonwealth stage representing England.

The men’s under-25 clash sees the Royals’ Ben Smith take on another Warwickshire-based player in Simon Herbert.

The tie will begin with the club heroes match between Leamington’s Rory Richmond, making his Royals debut, and Cavaliers captain Luke Bishop.

Royals team manager and head coach, Jason Pike said: “We’re really looking forward to our return fixture against the Cavaliers.

“It will be a packed house both courtside and in the bar, tickets sold out in a couple of hours.

“There are some great match ups and whilst S-J and Simon are wearing Cavaliers shirts on Friday, they are both very well-known round here, so they can expect a local welcome.

“Our two games in March will be decisive as to whether we have a chance of making Finals weekend.

“We’ve got a great team out on Friday and we’re hoping to reverse the losing draw at Cavaliers in November, but this looks to be very close on paper and anything can happen in best of three.

“I am sure the Royals crowd will get behind the team and lift them and let’s hope we can preserve our unbeaten record.”
