Striders follow in Mo Farah's path at Great North Run

RUNNING: FIVE Striders followed in the footsteps of Mo Farah at the weekend to complete the Great North Run.

Stuart Lee was the first Strider to finish in 1.45.50, he was followed by David Lithgow (1.55.01).

Not far behind was Claire Westrope on her way to a half marathon PB (1.55.39).

Peter Schofield also ran the race while Helen Pugh finished in 2.11.39.




Elsewhere, despite challenging conditions, Steve Taylor and Chris Jones tackled the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon – finishing in 1.20.36 and 2.15.36 respectively.

Closer to home, five Striders took on the Stratford big 10k.


Tim Beresford was first Strider home with a PB of 39.40.

He was followed by Keith Wilson (40.15), Katherine Lambeth (47.54, PB), Michael Clarke (48.45) and Gary Perkins (58.58).

Lastly, Spa Strider triathletes demonstrated their strength at the Stoke on Trent triathlon.

Andrew Bonjour finished ninth overall in 2hrs 18mins on the Olympic distance course while Dawn Clark was sixth female in a time of 2:47:42.
