RUNNING: THE hills of the Lake District provided the setting for Spa Striders athletes this weekend.
Rich Sykes Dave Lithgow, Claire Westrope and Lucy Tugwell raced the Helvellyn Trail over 15km on Saturday before Lithgow and Westrope also competed on Sunday in the Ullswater Trial.
Anne Hurrell also travelled to the Lake District where she completed the Four Passes race in 4:49:41.
The 19-mile route takes in four of the Lake District’s valleys, finishing in Borrowdale.
There was also action away from the lakes.
The inaugural Birmingham International Marathon took place on Sunday and was well attended by Striders.
Chris Liddle (3:04:38) was the first Strider home, followed by Rob Mantell (3:32:39) and Paul Quinney (3:48:54).
Jenny Owen (4:23:19) ran her debut marathon, paced by partner David Mills (4:23:20), while Emma Bird (4:34:39) also ran her debut marathon and Emma Kennedy (4:36:20) completed the club’s contingent.
