BOXING: TEENAGER Morgan Ansell has been awarded with an England representative vest for her efforts abroad in 2017.

The 16-year-old Rugby High student jetted off to Paris in November to compete in an England vs France card – where she fought at 48kg, the competition’s lowest weight level.

Clearys coach Edwin Cleary said: “It’s a big year for Morgan as she moves from a youth boxer to compete against older girls.

“It will be a step up for her.

“Three minutes suits our boxers and it will benefit Morgan’s all action style.

“There’s a lot of tournaments to box this year and it’s a special one with the European, World and Youth Olympic Games coming up.”

Meanwhile heavyweight hope Lewis Williams has an eye on the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

After it was announced last month the games will be coming to Birmingham, Williams will be continuing his ruthless training regime this year.

Other star fighters Danny Quartermaine, Morgan Ansell and Jake Finch also have hopes of reaching the Commonwealth Games.
