THREE runners from the Spa Striders claimed London Marathon places at the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday.
Ian Allen, the new club record holder in the men’s category at the event, raced home to a 1:11:10 time, followed by fellow Striders Jo Fleming (1:29:32) and Claire Hinton (1:29:54).
Also finishing in Manchester were: Keith Wilson (1:28:58), Laura Peake (1:30:45), Claire Davidson (1:30:57 PB), Fiona Ferguson (1:32:25), Chris Mackeown (1:32:26), Ruth Tennant (1:47:13), Mairi Walker (1:53:46), Claire Westrope (2:04:57), Matt Leydon (2:04:57), Gary Perkins (2:10:25) and David Lithgow (2:21:32).
Over at the Draycote 10k, Kat Robertson went below the 45 minute mark for the first time in 44:54, while a shortened Great Birmingham Run was completed by Chris Wilson in 1:13:52.
The small group of Ben Cohen (1:36:33), Jo Moffat (1:39:36), Ian Davis (1:39:51), Mark Hone (1:48:10), Emma Bish, Anne-Claire Bennion (both 2:07:13) and Lisa Edgerton (2:15:22) impressed at the Oxford Half Marathon.
Ben Parkinson (1:57:35), Anne Hurrell (2:11:00), Roz Cox and Ves Hill (both 3:19:26) completed the 21k Maverick Inov-8 Original Oxfordshire event, meanwhile, Simon Reiter finished the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 1:54:04 despite suffering an injury.
Richard Spear (40:22) and Steve Taylor (40:27) were the front runners at the Green Leek 10.5km race, finishing in fifth and sixth respectively to lead the way for over 30 Striders at the event.
Alice Bourne (45:47) and Kate Gadsby (48:44) were the sixth and eighth-fastest women respectively to complete the event, while Charlotte Everard (48:54) returned from injury as the ninth-fastest female runner.
