Venables stars for Team GB in 100km China run

RUNNING: MELISSA Venables starred for Team GB in China at the weekend, finishing a remarkable eighth in the Fuxian Lake Highland Ultramarathon 100km.

With the effects of high altitude and temperatures on a undulating course, Venables finished the 100km distance in 10hrs 28mins 44secs against a highly competitive international field.

Elsewhere Dan Stannard completed the Limestone Way Ultramarathon in 9hrs 30mins 31secs.

The 43 mile trail event took runners from White Peak to Dark Peak through the Peak District National Park.

Neil Webber also completed his first race as a Strider, finishing the Lincoln Half Marathon in 1hr 49mins 51secs.

Finally the Warren family took on the Great Cumbrian Run, a tough and hilly road half-marathon based around Carlisle.

Sean (1:41:38) was first home, followed by Dad, Brian (2:13:44) and brother, James (2:51:15).
