LEAMINGTON have appointed Chris Knott as interim boss with the club to formally begin their search for a new first team manager.

Knott will lead Leamington for an interim period following the resignation of long-serving manager Paul Holleran on New Year’s Eve.

Holleran departed the club after taking charge of 789 games during a more than 16-year stint at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.

The club will consider Knott as a candidate for the permanent manager’s job when appointing Holleran’s replacement.

Leamington are inviting applications for the position of first team manager.

Interested candidates should submit their CV to: [email protected] by midnight on Wednesday, January 21.

The club have also confirmed the departure of assistant manager Martyn Naylor.

Naylor has stepped down from the role after spending the last 14 years with the Brakes.

He first joined Leamington as a player in 2012 and helped the club win the Southern Premier League title.

However, he retired from playing the following year after damaging his ACL in pre-season.

He has since overseen more than 600 games as a coach and assistant manager with the Brakes.

Naylor said: “After 14 amazing years, a truly significant period of my life, I have decided to step down.

“As hard as it is to say goodbye to a club that means so much to me, I do so with immense pride and gratitude.

“My sincerest thanks go to the football club for first signing me as a player and then giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream role of becoming a coach.

“It is a role I have grown immensely passionate about. Without the fantastic people at the club recognising and supporting that ambition, I would never have gained the invaluable experiences that I have been fortunate enough to enjoy.

“I’ve had the pleasure of assisting one of the great non-league managers in Paul, for which I will be eternally grateful.

“There have been so many special moments, and I will cherish them forever. What a club. What an experience.”

Brakes chairman, Jim Scott added: “Martyn has been an exceptional servant to this club.

“His loyalty, reliability and steadfast support have been invaluable to Paul Holleran and the entire organisation.

“We’re grateful for everything Martyn has contributed, and he’ll always have a special place in the Brakes family.”
